Workshops
As part of our efforts to popularise quizzing in the city, we organise workshops for schools, colleges, and corporates. These are aimed at providing a gentle introduction to quizzing to all newcomers, especially those in school. The objective to is expose participants to a style of quizzing which is broader in scope and intellectually interesting, and in sharp contrast to the mere memory-oriented GK style of most school contests.
The BCQC, in association with a few schools, has conducted workshops for schoolchildren. A typical workshop is run by a couple of BC volunteers and sees about 30-plus participants, who are divided in teams. The volunteers pose questions, which the teams attempt by writing down the answers. If teams are unable to give the right answer, additional clues are provided. The volunteers explain how to go about solving such quizzes: how to read a question and to extract useful clues, how to guess effectively, how to go beyond simple memory-recall. The topics especially cover young quizzer-friendly topics such as Sports, (school-level) Geography and History, and young Literature.
We would also like to conduct such workshops for colleges and for older audiences via corporates if required.
The Workshops so far:
1. Symbiosis and Muktangan: 25 Nov 2006, (Report).
2. Symbiosis and Muktangan: 2 Dec 2006
3. Vidya Bhavan: 3 Mar 2007
If you'd like to invite us for organising such workshops in your institution, please write to us at contact at bcqc dot org with the subject line "Quiz Workshop".
